CHAPTER 21

Chaiiiiii… I BEEN WAITING TIMEEEEE FOR THISSS!!!!! One of my favourite blog posts to date 😀 I know i probably say that everytime i publish a post butt rahhh. My team also loves this too, hopefully we aren’t being biased ❤ ❤ ❤ Or Maybe just a lil bit but ohhh well…

So summer is coming to an end here in England and we are entering fall/Autumn! This means it will be both warm and chilli, sometimes with the sun still shinning through. Our weather is legit 4 seasons a day. Anyway, enough about that!!!

RIGHT NOW, we are coming through with a pop of colour. I must say this little puffed up coat is my fav in my wordrobe. Believe it or not, it goes with so many things.  Whether you are dressing it up with some thigh high boots (for sauce uno) and all black clothing OR dressing down with some black/blue jeans/ leggings. You’ll still look cute!! It always makes me stand out, and a little colour is good for the soul! From far you can tell thats JENNETH standing right there…i just love this look so much. Just to point out – something like this dungaree is great for your back to school season. You can throw it on with any t-shit and some nice trainers and you will be good to go. Not much of an effort or stress.

ANYWAYSSS, this look itself is colourful, charismatic, vibrant AND chic. I have plenty of pictures for you to look at!!!

Issue Of The Month: Being Grateful x

“A grateful heart is a magnet of miracles”

This issue of the month comes following my 21st birthday last month!!!! There are so many things I am grateful for. At 21, I never imagined I would be where I am. INFACT, never did I ever imagine I would be who I am today. I am so grateful to GOD for all his blessings (ALL THE GLORY TO HIM!!!). I’m grateful to my FAMILY for always being there, supporting and loving me unconditionally. Finally, to all my FRIENDSSS and SUPPORTERS, thank you!! Without all of you, life would not be the same AND I would not be the same either.

I am grateful to have had the courage to start this blog, I feel more confident, better able to showcase my creativity. In fact, its almost unreal how much this has impacted me as a person. I feel as though this blog has given me a platform to develop my character, learn new things and inspire someone else.

Within the last year, I learnt to drive and got my first car – RORRIES (funny name with a funny story behind it). Also, I got my first paid job and started this blog amongst many other things. I moved from home to go on a placement year without my friends or family. Of course they visited and I went home frequently. At first, it seemed, the year was going to be difficult. Now being on the other side of that bridge, I am more mature, independent and better able to take care of myself. Although some my disagree! LOOOL thats okay ;). I feel more content with what I have, and will continue aspiring for more.

😀 😀 😀

— — —IMG-20170801-WA0025— —

NOW, HOW ABOUT YOU? 🙂 🙂 🙂

I often realise that many people including myself sometimes tend to overlook the positive things in their lives as they may be pre-occupied with what may not be going their way or may be going wrong. This bringing down their mood making them miserable. Learning to reflect and appreciate whats going right in your life is very important. It sometimes shines a light of hope through you making that darkness disappear.

These ARE a few questions you should consider asking yourself:

i) What are your 5 or more testimonies? i.e. my good health!

ii) What are you grateful for?

iii) Who are you grateful to?

Whilst doing this, it is important to remember that people’s blessings/testimonies are different. We are all on different pathways leading to different destinations in our lives, therefore, the way things happen for each of us is different.

❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

“Be grateful for small things, big things and everything in-between”

ISSUE OF THE MONTH: “HAVIN’ FUN”

I have just had an amazing and yet also a bit of a sad day. I said goodbye my fellow placement student 😦 As it was her last day, we thought it would be a good idea to ask those a bit older than us for some general LIFE ADVICE LOOOOL! The majority of them SAID, ”HAVE FUN WHILE YOU ARE YOUNG!!!!” It just made me reflect upon myself. Generally, I’d describe myself as quite hard-working, and goal/career orientated. This sometimes can mean most of the time there is lot to do – uni work and sometimes I’m there chasing opportunities which is great! Its not a bad thing BUT sometimes it can leave little room for enjoying life’s best things.

The purpose of this blog post is to encourage you this summer to make the most of it. Work Hard AND Play Hard! Find out what you enjoy, try new things. You’ll never know if you don’t try! If you do know, cater some time for those things!!!  Your idea of fun could be meeting with friends, visiting sceneries, trying new food, going to festivals and going out! But be safe init 🙂

Even after summer, its also important to still allocate some time for doing something you enjoy.  Learning to allocate time appropriately is important both for your mental wellbeing and your performance.

YOLO!

ISSUE OF MONTH: YOUR TALENT X

So this issue of the month has been inspired by the amazing scenery we took these pictures at. A graffiti tunnel at Waterloo station in London. The art work there is beyond AMAZING! When you go there, you always see something new at least on one part of the tunnel. SOME HELLA TALENTED PEOPLE SHOWCASING THEIR GIFTS!!!!

I thought this would link in very well with last month’s issue of the month ( LINK:: ). A talent is a gift or an ability which we are born with and discover either very early in childhood or later somehow unexpectedly. This doesn’t always have to be about art or singing!  It could be your ability to juggle numbers, write, run or dance. I guess the point of this issue of the month is to  encourage you  to do something with your talent at every opportunity knocking at your door. DON’T WASTE IT!!!! Unless you don’t enjoy it then of course that is a different story. You should not make nerves or discouragement from others hinder you from showcasing your abilities. At the end of the day, some people will criticise but others will appreciate your talent. You I know you are probably THINNKING,  “Jenneth you are too optimistic.”

No. I am not saying quit your job to do it, I am saying that If there is something you are good at and enjoy – why not use it at every opportunity offered?

Our Deepest Fear – by Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

ISSUE OF THE MONTH: FINDINGGG YOUR PURPOSE

“Find a PURPOSE in LIFE so BIG it will CHALLENGE every CAPACITY to be at your BEST” – Unknown Author

“Catch fire, Do something, Get excited by finding your purpose in life” – Steve Harvey

When you find your purpose, it is like your heart has been set alight with passion. You know it absolutely, without any doubt! – Rhonda Byrne

Sighhhh so this issue of the month comes after i have just completed my placement year for university (LASTTTT WEEK!!! YYEYYYYY). This means i am approximately a year away from entering the real world looool SO THEY SAYYYy! Graduation next year and there i will be. Out there. Many in my stream will be graduating July (CONGRATULATIONSS!!!) and there they go 🙂 ❤

I can’t lie. ITS SCARYYY. There are SO MANY QUESTIONS in my mind. Am I Making The Right Decision? What Is My Purpose? What Do I Want In Life? What Is God’s Wish For Me? Some of them i cant seem to be able to answer just yet…

When it comes to finding your purpose its something you should not rush AND sometimes we are going to get it wrong and have to take a step back (a bit like kissing a few frogs before you find your prince/princess :). At the same some people are born knowing, others ain’t and have to figure it out! … What you choose to do has to be something you feel passionate about which feels right deep within. Don’t be afraid to get it wrong. At our age we have our WHOLEEE LIVES to figure it out. Be open to explore as many avenues as you can. Find out whats out there and how you can get to it 😉 Use those around you to help you start climbing that ladder to your destination. Stay humble all the way!

— —

My 3 Top Tips To Finding Your Purpose:

i) Take a step back for a bit and try EVERYYYYTHING you are interested in! Find where exactly your PASSION lies. This may involve doing some work experiences/placements within those fields.

ii) Do some RESEARCHHHH AND  ASK QUESTIONS … OMG I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH !!!!! IF You don’t do your research you will never know what you are missing OR WORST OF ALL you MIGHT end up in the wrong place unnecessarily. Don’t ever think you are asking too many questions. You don’t ask, YOU DON’T FIND OUT.

iii) ALWAYS NETWORK, NETWORK AND NETWORK!

L’AGENTTT X

BONJOURRR, We meet again!!! 😀

With everything I wear, my aim is to feel COMFORTABLE and GOOD! The main motive behind this outfit was to hopefully prove that you could still look good in comfortable clothing. You don’t have to wear a tight, and figure hugging dress every-time you go out you know (although sometimes it doesn’t hurt lool). Sometimes keep it comfy. Comfy can still look sophisticated and cute. You are probably like, “JENNETH what are you talking about?!” You just have to OWN IT. All that I am wearing here is a bodysuit with some jogger like tracksuit bottoms and a fur sleeveless coat. And of course the heels loool. READY TOO GO!!! Some people might not quite like the lines in my trousers but its all a part of it init.

ISSUE OF THE MONTH: Money & Happiness

This has really been my true issue of the month in-fact of this year so far. I have had so many conversations with a lot of people and it is interesting hearing their perspective on things. Just to put it out there, this is my perspective and i do understand if some of you don’t agree!

I believe that money is necessary in living a comfortable and PERHAPS happy life BUTTT BUTTT BUTTT it is not the key to happiness (at least i don’t think so!). Some people might point out that you need money for food, a bed to sleep on and clothes to wear. Of course again i do not disagree. I just feel like money has become something which is at times confused for bringing ever-lasting happiness. A friend of mine once said that, “money can buy happiness,” someone else said, “money = happiness!”

Someone once told me a story about the time she went to Ghana for a few weeks and came back feeling like the ghanians were the happiest people she had met! Those she spent time with whilst on holiday barely had much  in regards to money, and luxuries we have here (Europe) i.e. a smartphone and a mac-book. Yet, there were so happy and sang in so much joy. One could argue probably happier than most people who have enough money to live and get everything they desire.

I guess the purpose of this issue of the month is to encourage us to be careful of where we place money within our hierarchy of needs. We shouldn’t place it too high that it defines our happiness. Always remember money comes and goes – that happiness is temporary. You may be sad till your next pay check so I want to encourage you to BE MINDFUL and AWARE of all the OTHER THINGS which are perhaps more important AND highly likely to promise longer lasting happiness and satisfaction i.e. the LOVE from FAMILY and FRIENDS, RELIGION, and CULTURE. Let our happiness not be entirely reliant on our pay check.

THRIFTED 1996

PARTTTT 1

Omggggg guyss the longg awaited THRIFTED Blog Post!! THRIFTING IS ALMOST LIKE A HOBBY TO ME!!! There is nothing I enjoy more than looking over extraordinary things to find one that suits me. You find the most amazing things in thrift shops which sometimes are of way better quality than what we tend to buy from mainstream stores. I have been thrifting properly since November last year after I came across this over-sized DENIMMM JACKETT in British Heart Foundation. I WAS IN LOVE!!! Ever since, my collection has grown like crazy from denim to silk all the way to BALMAIN Paris. In the near future I hope to post my thrifted word-rope on the inspiration page but for now here is a thrifted look. Denim mom jeans, top, leather jacket along with the hand bag too! The only ITEM not thrifted are the shoes.

ISSUE OF THE MONTH: GIVING A HAND TO SOMEONE

We rise by lifting othersRobert Ingersoll

SOOO YESTERDAYYY, i was sitting on my bed thinking, “i have to release that blog post tomorrow! what issue of the month should i do?” :// I thought maybe natural hair but then my inner voice was like “nahh BRUVV a…a think harder what is your POST really about? CHARITIES!!! What do Charities do? HELP OTHERS directly or indirectly. PERFECTTT.”

The art of helping occurs when YOU make something BETTER for someone else without expecting anything in return. In this way you are making their WORLD and LIFE a lot better or perhaps easier/happier. Helping doesn’t have to involve or cost money! You could help just by asking someone who looks distressed whether they are okay, making yourself available to listen, giving up a chair for someone disabled/pregnant, sharing the little you have, and sometimes just simple things such as smiling could go a long way. That light you shine upon others will light a touch of hope in their heart which they will hopefully pass on.

Almost two weeks ago, i attended this conference, it left me with many questions one being, “HOW DO I MAKE THE WORLD BECOME A BETTER PLACE FOR EVERYONE?” Although i could think of a few things, it got to me that i cant make everything better and i cant help everyone. This was QUITE a DISTRESSING thought. Few days later something clicked inside of me and that was, “if we all WORK TOGETHER and HELP those who are STRUGGLING or BENEATH us. The world will be a BETTER PLACE for everyone.”

TWO-WAY BOMBER

— —

HELLOOOO, I am here with my THIRD Blog Post!!! Ehehehe my God is good OOooo! Yeyy, i made it this far! 🙂 I must say this actually does take guts and commitment but i am learning. ANYWAY …

I had a lot of fun putting this outfit together. It was almost like a puzzle – little bits and pieces to create the look. Firstly, the bomber jacket has to be my favourite amongst everything. Its a two way peace: red and black on the inside + black with flowers on the outside. It wasn’t even that expensive! My next favourite piece of the puzzle was the jeans OMGGG the distress is minimal but just about enough if you get what i mean. Not Too Much, Not Too Little! Lastly, the shoes, i just love my white shoes. They always make any outfit look clean and add a twist to any outfit i wear with them.

ISSUE OF THE MONTH: Body Confidence

— —

“Admire someone else’s beauty without questioning your own” Author Unknown

“To me, beauty is about being comfortable in your skin. It’s is about knowing and accepting the way you look and who you are” Ellen Degenesse

Where do i start with this topic. Body confidence, i believe, is something everyone at some point in their life lack whether they are upfront about it or not. It can drain you so much emotionally, more than expected in fact. I admit to have had an issue surrounding my body confidence not too long ago.  Long story cut short, i let things people said affect me more than they should have.

Regarding body image there is so much women/girls and also men/boys tend to get concerned or insecure about. First and foremost their clothing size (so what i am size 12)!!! Then comes other things like facial structure, the size of their hips, backside, chest, shoulders and hands. Sometimes our insecurities arise from when we admire others’ bodies and compare theirs to our own leading to self scrutinising and BEFORE we know it a decrease in our own body confidence. Little do we know that these people are probably doing the same to us and wanting what we have.  Other times, we let people’s careless comments about our body appearance affect our perception of what we look like. Before you would have been okay noticing that you have a bit of a belly but now because someone has mentioned it you start thinking ‘kmt swear its gotten bigger’ or ‘it has to go. what is this’. I am not saying this is how it happens for everybody.

Body insecurities can originate from anywhere but the two scenarios have been the most common i have came across… The point of this topic of the month is for me to encourage you to love and adore your body because only when people see that passing through will they also love, adore and accept you for the way you look and who you are. If you are going to admire how someone else looks, do so, but don’t compare or self-criticise. If someone gives an inconsiderate comment purposefully or carelessly about the way you look, recognise what they said and JUST let it go. Its their opinion. Not everyone who sees you is going to see what they saw. Also, YOU ought to be careful about what you say to others as words have the power to cut people deeper than intended.

3 tips on increasing body confidence! (remember they are many more)

  1. DON’T always look at yourself and see your imperfections but INSTEAD recognise the features you love and appreciate on you.
  2. Paying attention to your self-care is important in increasing your confidence in the way you look and who you are. This can start from recognising and improving things such as your personal hygiene, eating patterns,  and fitness routine.
  3. Surround yourself with people who are confident and who make you feel good about yourself NOT those who only see your flaws/imperfections.

A TIMELESS DRESS

— —

OMGGG this dress has been in my position for a whilee noww… since i picked it out for my mom’s graduation a long time ago (2014). Its a timeless classic which always makes me feel good when i am wearing it. It shows off the legs but does not reveal much more. One thing i absolutely admire about it is the level of detail in that lace. Just gorgeous! I had to share it with  all of you.

It is still accessible and also there are many similar to this piece in different online stores (boohoo.com and newlook.com)

ISSUE OF THE MONTH: Knowing yourself and working on it!

— —

“Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become your character. Watch your character. It becomes your destiny” Lao Tzu

“Learn to know yourself…to search realistically and regularly the process of your own mind and feelings” Nelson Mandela

For this issue of the month I have decided to recognise the importance of knowing and working on yourself. Believe it or not this links very well to last month’s issue of self-confidence. ONLY when we are self-aware will we develop ourselves to a better, happier MORE confident and successful person.

Knowing yourself requires carrying out a 360 degree SELF-ASSESSMENT.  From the way you perceive the world, think and behave to the way you present yourself. This process involves asking questions such as: who am i?, where am I from? What drives and motivates me? What sets me back/distracts me? What is my talent? What am I good at? What do I struggle with? What makes me happy? What puts my mood down? How do I present myself? What are my good and bad habits? So many questions which you need to ask yourself in order to have an idea of who you really are. Only when you know those answers will you recognise your capabilities, self-worth and ways in which you can approach challenges more successfully. Most importantly, knowing yourself will invite you to recognise how your mind works and perhaps motivate you to change your undesirable characteristics.

Lao Tzu’s quotation above is one of my many favourites as it summarises the stages in which one’s character develops and becomes destiny. Mandela also recognises the importance of regularly assessing yourself realistically which is another important factor.

— —

3 TOP TIPS To Getting To Know Yourself (remember they are more!!!)

i) Reflecting on your actions and the thoughts behind them.

ii) Acknowledging and assessing your successes and failures.

iii) Accepting feedback/comments from those you trust want the best for you.

MY FIRST POST: BLACK LACE

— —

WHATS UPP GUYS!!!

So for this first particular post, I thought it would be nice to start with a black on black outfit. Black is a colour which flatters any type of figure. It brings out one’s shape and gives it an edge to die for whilst oozing a ‘look at me vibe’. I always go for black when I am unsure of what to wear as well as when I feel the need to dress up. It is convenient and for every situation! This particular outfit has been in wardrobe for a while now but never been worn. It is suitable for a night out either with heels or a nice pair of white/black trainers.

Issue of the week: SELF CONFIDENCE

Self-confidence is an issue we all experience at some point in our lives. This could be related to your body shape, weight, height, abilities and so many other things. Along with other things, what you look like plays a big role. If you are unsatisfied with how you look it affects how you move and present yourself without even mentioning the love for yourself. It is important to recognise and accept it if you have this issue and then above all work towards helping yourself.

My 5 top Tips to self-confidence!

— —

1) Accept and love yourself.

2) Try and reduce the amount you worry about what people say especially FROM those who don’t bring much positivity to your life.

3) Wear what you feel comfortable in and own it.

4) Walk, sit, stand and move in a more confident way.

5) Experiment with your style and abilities whilst exploring new things

Remember there are more, these are just a few i feel are quite important! 🙂
